How our ears work

Our ears are important for billions of good reasons. The ears not only have the ability to hear, but it also makes it possible for us to balance. The ear isn’t just the hearing part. It’s not only for humans to hear but it also makes it possible for humans to walk and balance. You probably never knew that but I'm glad you do now.

How the ear works is that the sound goes through the pinna and the pinnas job is to capture the sound plus what the pinna is made of is cartilage the pinna is the outside of our ear, afterwards the sound funnels continuously through the ear canal where all the ear waxes are located and the ear waxes job is to keep out water, dirt, dust and little bugs and from the ear canal to the eardrum it vibrates then it sends the same sound to the three smallest bones in your body which are the Hammer, Anvil, Stirrup, afterwards the  ossicles make the sound louder and sends it to the cochlea, the cochlea have delicate cells that are shaped like hair so dont break them because they will not regenerate, afterwards the vibration causes the liquid to ripple and it converts the vibrations into electrical impulses and takes it to the brain by the auditory nerve.

When we grow older our hearing doesn't work as well as it was when you were young so you better use it alot cause when you grow older you will not have the chance to hear much things as you did before. Our ears are very important because they help us hear and help us balance. If we never had ears I don't think anyone would be talking fluently, only hands moving and eyes looking so it is very important to take care of our ears or we’ll never hear anything for the rest of our lives.

Take care of your ears cause when you grow older you’d regret everything.

Niue Language Week

Niue is not a country everyone knows but guess what?

They’ve got the best beaches that everyone could chill at, Clean water, fresh island and a nice hot place to chill at. Niue is well known as one of the largest upraised coral atoll in the world situated in the middle of the South Pacific within a triangle boundary of Tonga, Samoan and Cook Islands.

One day I would like to visit that island to check out the great things.

Dr Thierry's visit

Dr Thierry's visit was amazing, we got to look at onion cells using the microscope. Looking at the cells were pretty fun but sketching it was super hard cause I'm not that good at drawing. Learning about cells was interesting and knowing about what's in our body is SUPER FUN.

Firstly he taught us different things about the zebrafish such as the organs, body and cells straight after that he taught us how to work with the microscope. We started to look at the onion cells. It was pretty hard to see them but when we zoomed in we saw pink dots everywhere it was interesting and fun.

Dr Thierry’s visit was spectacular and interesting I hope to have him every thursday so that we could learn much more about cells.

School President

Name: Peliasi

Date: 14th October

Title: School President

It would be a great honor to become a School student representative, I could make a huge difference to the school and I’d make everybody’s  year their greatest year they ever had in their whole entire life. My name is Peliasi and I am going to convince you to vote for me as a school representative.

If you vote for me as school president I would make sure every kid in the school gets a good deal, like their school fees, stationary and school trips... Technically $5 for the fees, $5 for the stationary and trips, free!!

Lunch?? No need, I’ll provide kids with healthy and delicious lunches that almost taste like fast food but even mouth watering. Most parents don't have the money for lunches so I’d help out by making a cafeteria for every kid and guess what? The lunch is FREE!

I’d give the school a one hour break time so that everyone can have fun and get a lot of energy from their hard work at class, it would be great to have a longer break time then the 30 minutes break time.

It will be hard to get these things but I will negotiate with the principal and make a perfect deal so that everyone would have fun. It's not all about making the school rich, it's also about saving money and having fun at school. I’m all you’ll ever ask for, If you hate on me I'll fold you up like 1,2,3,4.

Amazing circle of life - The web

Name: Peliasi
Date: September the 18th

Water, air, light and energy were the main things that made life happen. Life started with micros and 425 million years ago marines moved from sea to land to start a new life, Vegetation covered the earth. Over a million years animals started to develop and get stronger and the earth was tremendously fine.

Most creatures became predators, pests and enemies and they started feeding on other animals but that was the only way to survive. Different species evolved to protect themselves and started thinking about strategies to hide themselves from being killed by other animals.

Species lower in the food chain breed more and produce more often and it gives them a higher chance of surviving and not becoming endangered and they create a big population of animals.

Humans came into the world and started killing the world by destroying rainforests, animals, trees and important things that produce homes and lives for creatures.  In 30 years scientists say that animals will go extinct and humans will suffer without meat. We should change our lives and start thinking about who's around us.

START WRITING:
In Tonga Im in a very very small island called Ha'afeva, We are cutting taro leaves to make (Lu sipi) early in the morning and I'm with my cousin and he’s helping me prepare for our big feast, Im at home chopping taro leaves.

The first food I tried was Lu sipi and it's wrapped in taro leaves and there's meat that's from lamb and coconut milk. The taste was fine, it needed a little more salt. Also it was nice and soft. It just melted in my mouth. The meat was delicious.

Then we had otai but it's a drink with watermelon and crackers. It's very delicious. The flavour is so good the texture of the fruits are nice and it's big chunks.

Our final dish was so nice it was called keke and it's almost like donut but without cream. It's soft, brown, crunchy and delicious and it's very oily but still good to eat!

It was amazing food and I really wanna go again!!

How does a fly walk upside down?

How do flies walk upside down?
They can do this because of their sticky feet.
A fly has foot pads that are covered in tacky glue which makes them stick on upside down or sideways.
To unstick their feet so they can walk anywhere, the fly uses tiny foot claws to push or twist themselves away.

Science - Tech

Our aim is to find sugar content in coke
Equipments: - Coke, Bunsen burner, Beaker, Tripod stand and wire guage.

We did all of these to find out how much sugar was inside 150ml.
First thing we did was pour 150ml of coke inside the Beaker and after that we placed it on top of the tripod stand with the wire guage and lit the fire and we waited for the coke to Evaporate and find out how much sugar that was inside the 150ml of coke.

Results: - Coke evaporated and we got the coke crystals, even from 8 meters away we could smell the sugar from far.

Tech - Science

Today at Tech, we learnt a lot about Sugary stuff and things that we eat that contain a lot of sugar in it, such as weetbix, cereal, protein bars and yogurt. Many people think that it's good to eat those, but actually it's not because it contains more sugar than you need daily.

It's actually good to have sugar but not to much. It's good to have sugar because it give you energy to mobilize and play and it burns while playing.

Before eating something make sure to read the back to see the ingredients and always have 6 - 8 grams a day.

Defining Friendship

  Defining Friendship

Friendship is very important to our life’s because everyone needs a buddy to be with. Friends are helpful, kind, funny and sometimes rude but it's still a good thing to have friendship. I love my friends but as a FRIEND.. They help me all the time and I never feel alone. If you don’t have friends try to find one because you don’t wanna feel alone in your cell, you wanna feel free and have a lot of fun

. Having friends kind of sucks because they annoy you 24/7 and it hurts your brain. They are helpful and stuff but when they play with you, some get very upset for no REASON. Friendship is one of the important things in your life because you have someone to talk with, play with, flirt with, muck around with and more other things, and even if you don't want friends it's always good to have one to cheer you up.

Life can be hard without friends because you can be depressed, alone, misery and most times you can struggle a lot. If you are scared to talk then get a friend because you are confident to talk to and to do things with them.

That’s why it's important to have a friend.

Why plastic is bad for the ocean

Name: Peliasi
Date: June 18th
Title: Why plastic is bad for the ocean

Well, There are more than a 1000 reasons why plastic is bad and why we should start reusing, recycling and reducing.

We should all stop littering because our oceans are becoming polluted and our animals are suffering and dying because of us and it seems like we are the filthy ones.  We shouldn't be stupid  and let the marine animals  die because over a million marines died because of us and it’s not just because they died from their predators they also die because of us.

My first reason why I believe we will stop littering is because if sea creatures die out like seals and turtles then there would be a great chance of great white sharks following extincion. And also if we continue this misery, in a couple of years the next generations will not get a chance to see the real world or even swim in the ocean that we destroyed.

Also marine creatures will continue to suffer and will eventually be never seen again, and our future kids won't even get to discover what they are and over 8 million plastic are scattered around the world and if we keep this up then we won't even have clean water to drink and clean water to swim in.

Plastic is also starting to choke the sea creatures to death and most are skinny because the blood doesn't race through because the strings are blocking it.

It's better if we stop littering we could even start a better life and a cleaner one.

Rippa Rugby

  Rippa Rugby

Today we had rippa rugby and it was very enjoyable because we got to do a lot of amusing things.

When we went to rippa rugby, the first thing we did was warm our bodies up then we played rats and rabbits, it was fun because we got to move around a lot.
After all of that we got to play a very exciting game, first we had four goals and the colours were yellow and orange and then we had to past the balls around to hit the goal and if we dropped the ball its the other teams turn to move with the ball and if we rip the tag of them then its our ball.

After that we played our last game and it what bullrush, most of you know how to play it but how it works is that if you are a tagger then if you tag your opponent they are in, and they stay on one spot and wait for someone to come near them so they can tag them.
It was so fun but sadly I got tagged, but we all got second chance's and it was awesome.

I liked playing rippa rugby and I also enjoyed play the games, I like it so much, we are lucky that we have it every wednesday.

Technology

Technology

Today in technology we did science and it was super fun.

What we did in science was turning power on with a light switch, battery, voltmeter, light bulb and it was very difficult  and none of us had any idea how to do it, but my friend Jaiden and I were the only ones that have worked out how to turn the power on.
The first thing we did was try to turn everything on but it didn't work so we decided to take it off and put wires that shouldn't be on it and it worked but all we needed was to make the voltmeter work and it was very hard and I was also confused because last time it worked but now it doesn't, so then we added more wires and then it WORKED!!
And our teacher came and she saw it and she was SHOCKED because what she told us was way different to ours. She was also confused but she was still shocked.

It was very fun in Tech and I was happy to do new things.

Class rotation

Class rotation
Today I am going to give my opinion about class rotation.

I think class rotation is very good because we get to learn a lot more from one class,
I like rotating classes because it trains me for high school and in high school you move classes all the time, I also like it because I like learning new things I've never learned ever in my life. In my class, my teacher Mrs Petersen is extraordinary with literacy but not with math so that's why we rotate a lot because we have different talents.

Sometimes it could waste time moving classes but we get the opportunity of learning more things. One reason why I hate moving classes is because we have to get everything ready and sometimes I'm a bit too lazy because I just got back from playing and I know that's no reason to complain but sometimes it drives me insane but I gotta do what I got to do.

Class rotation might be good for us or not but we should all be grateful for the opportunity to learn and if you hate it, then pick yourself up and just do it.

Earthworms

Why do we need earthworms?
Earthworms are very important to the earth because they help compost and grow rich soil they do very hard jobs and without them we would suffer from dry land, we need them because they have very special droppings that make our grass, flowers, trees grow. They occur worldwide and a commonly found in soil eating live and dead organic matter and they are hermaphrodite (Boy and Girl).

How do earthworms make babies?
They mate then later they lay eggs. And the earthworms stay in their cocoons for about 6 weeks till they come out of their cocoons. They are about 1cm long  when they come out.

Story

The store was completely empty and I thought aliens invaded the world, but I saw the shopkeeper walk towards me and Riko and said “Sorry man nothing on sale today so leave please,” We were so confused, We didn't know what was going on.

Riko went out and saw a sign that said (Covid 19)
Then he totally remembered about it, He went burst through the door “Peliasi, It's because Covid 19” Riko said “I know but why are the stuff all gone then?” Asked Peliasi. “Everybody has just taken it, “they are all going crazy because of covid 19” the Shopkeeper replied.

Their supplies and everything were gone, everything was taken but Riko knew a way to make it fair for everyone to share. There was a limited amount you could take and it was two. Now everything fair, and the store never had any problems again.

Sport

Name: Peliasi
Date: 11/3/20
Title: Sports

Sports are very fun because your body gets to mobilise a lot. Sports can teach you a lot because it helps you with your skills, agility, handles, fitness and you would have a very good mindset.

Sports are not just for fit people it could be for anyone unless you put effort into it, it doesn't really matter how you look, what matters is how you play so don't judge people in sports.

There are millions of sports to try, I think everyone should try one because it motivates you and it’s also FREE so that's another good thing. Famous people that play sports get paid a lot of money and if you try hard when you are older you will earn it.

Sports can give you a good mindset because, if you train a lot you will get to know where the ball is going and your skills will reform all the time, and your handlings will be spectacular.

Algebra

I did this Algebra equation with my group and I got it all right and I feel very happy because I had finished this.
I love Algebra because its very easy and fun.

Algebra is Maths but you use Letters and shapes to make the answer its so fun but it kind of gets hard.
